  • Magnet HS Announces Fifteen Commended Students in 2018 National Merit Scholarship Program

     

    Congratulations to the following Magnet High School students for being selected as Commended Students in the 2018 annual National Merit Scholarship Program: Cady Abood, Devan Blechinger-Slocum, Shefali Dahiya, Reema Dave, Thomas Han, Abigail Iheke, Shanli Jiang, John Klikushin, Jakub Legocki, Portia Shaheed, Matthew Shih, Anqi Xu, Mira Yang, Amanda Zhang, and Zhizhuo Zhou.

    They are among 34,000 commended students throughout the nation being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Commended students placed among the top 50,000 scorers of more than 1.6 million students who entered the 2018 competition by taking the 2016 PSAT. Congratulations!

  • Two Magnet Seniors Named 2018 Scholars by the National Hispanic Recognition Program


    The National Hispanic Recognition Program has named Magnet seniors Eric Colom and Matthew Diaz as National Hispanic Scholars. Established to identify outstanding Hispanic/Latino high school students, Eric and Matthew scored in the top 2.5% among Hispanic and Latino PSAT/NMSQT test takers in our region. They received this prestigious honor as a result of their outstanding 2016 PSAT scores combined with their excellent GPAs. Congratulations!

  • Seven Semifinalists from Magnet High School Named in the 2018 National Merit Scholarship Program

     

    Congratulations to the following Magnet High School students for being selected as Semifinalists in the 63rd annual National Merit Scholarship Program: Zachary Breit, Sabina J., Sydney P., Paul Seth, Kevin T., Richard Wen, and Berenice Zaslavsky. About 1.6 million juniors in some 22,000 high schools entered the 2018 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2016 PSAT. The Semifinalists are the highest scoring program participants in each state. They now have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $32 million. From the approximately 16,000 Semifinalists, about 90% of them are expected to attain Finalist standing, and more than half of the Finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship, earning the Merit Scholar title.
