With the latest deployment of teacher laptops we discovered that new security features have been known to interfere with other applications. Specifically the fingerprint reader does not play nice with our CSI Budgetary software. The problem boils down to a failure to negotiate system calls on a library file (DLL) so instead of the two systems shaking hands and coming to an agreement, they get fed up and quit. But your trusted Systems Administrator has figured out a little trick to get that budget software working again:
1. Copy this address:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Dell\Dell Data Protection\Security Tools Authentication\Bin\
2. Click Start.
3. Paste the address and hit enter.
4. Look for this file
5. Tap the file once, wait a moment, and then tap it again. When it turns blue you can rename the file to
Done! In all honesty it doesn't matter what you rename the DLL file just so long as it doesn't keep the name it had. After you've completed this, launch your Budget software and you'll be happy to find that it no longer crashes.
Have a good day!
