In the MASONRY program, students learn to utilize brick, stone, tile, flagstone, concrete and block in completing masonry walls and foundations, slabs, fireplaces, patios, steps, sidewalks, arches, footings, chimneys and decorative masonry. Students also learn how to prepare, mix and pour a variety of concrete forms. Students in the program will be trained in the use of mortar and concrete mixers and brick saws. Safety procedures, the use of a mason’s rule, setting up and safely using scaffolds, mixing mortar, the use of symbols and notations, environmental factors, cost estimating, blueprint reading and related mathematics are also included in the curriculum.
MASONRY students gain experience by participating in construction projects in-shop. Job placement assistance is available upon graduation.
