The WELDING TECHNOLOGY program at UCTECH instructs the student in the concepts of joining metal through a variety of welding techniques. Heat is applied to metal pieces and by joining, melting and fusing them, a permanent bond is formed. With an emphasis on safety, theory and practice, WELDING TECHNOLOGY covers the use and handling of gases, power tools, instruments, flame cutting, TIG - MIG equipment and the proper set-up methods for regulation of inert gas tanks.
The curriculum includes instruction in the following welding operations: Oxy-Acetylene, Shielded Metal Arc Welding, Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (TIG), Gas Metal Arc Welding (MIG) and Plasma Arc Cutting. The program also includes brazing, soldering, and cast iron work. Metal fabrication techniques, procedures and assembly are also included in the course. Graduates are employed in manufacturing, construction, transportation and industrial companies as welders, structural steel workers, pipe welders, fabricators, ironworkers, fitters and maintenance welders.
