Mr. Platt is entering his fourth year of teaching at Union County Vocational-Technical High School and his fifth year of teaching overall. He grew up in Cedar Grove, New Jersey and graduated from Montclair Kimberley Academy High School. While attending MKA, Mr. Platt was a four year varsity starter on the football team, as well as captain his senior year. In addition to playing football, Mr. Platt earned varsity letters in Baseball, Basketball, Winter/Spring track team. He attended Franklin and Marshall College where he was a double major in Psychology and Scientific Studies of the Human Mind. During his time at Franklin and Marshall College, Mr. Platt was a member of the Franklin and Marshall 2004 Co-Centennial Conference Championship and ECAC Southwest Regional Bowl Champions Football Team. After leaving football, Mr. Platt began volunteering as a coach for Reynolds Middle School in Lancaster, PA. There he coached football and track and developed great relationships with his student-athletes. Mr. Platt also volunteered for America Reads, Teach For America and the Claire House For Single Mothers.
During his Junior year of college, Mr. Platt was one of the co-founders for the current online broadcasting department for all 28 varsity sports at Franklin and Marshall College. Mr. Platt was the lead broadcaster for over a dozen varsity athletic events, which led to him earning summer internships at SNY Television and ESPN Radio 1050. Following his graduation from Franklin and Marshall College, Mr. Platt moved back to New Jersey where he enrolled in the Teacher's Education and Master's Program at Montclair State University. While working through graduate school, Mr. Platt continued his coaching career and has coached at Newark Academy High School, Hudson Catholic Regional High School, Bergenfield High School, Livingston High School, Belleville High School and Montclair Kimberley Academy. He currently coaches football at Chatham High School and Track at Montclair Kimberley High School. In addition to being a full-time health and physical education teacher and coach, Mr. Platt is also a personal trainer at 360 Fitness in Fairfield, NJ.
Mr. Platt is a huge sports fan and always enjoys watching different sporting events. Mr. Platt is a fan of the New York Giants, New York Mets, Brookyln Nets, and New York Rangers. In addition to watching and participating in sports, Mr. Platt has also learned to love reading and enjoys other activities such as cooking, and American History and Science. Mr. Platt enjoys spending time with his three Labrador Retrievers (Jolie, Brewer, and Rookie) and Golden Retriever (EJ).
